#512 (28/12/21) LET’S GO!

This week’s devotions are based upon our Christmas Morning message from Matthew 2:1-12 & Luke 2:1-20.

God spoke to the shepherds through angels. God, In mercy, spoke to them of Jesus. The Shepherds had their eyes on their flocks and God woke them up to deeper realities. By grace, by the Spirit, God has woken us up to Jesus. However, may we, like the shepherds, also make a choice to go and worship. We read,

‘So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.’ (Luke 2:16-18)

Christmas reminds us that the Saviour has come. May we also be reminded that we have to go! We are called to go and worship. We are called to go deeper in our relationship with Jesus. Our ability to enjoy God and share Him with others depends on our going to Him in worship each day.

THEY ENCOURAGED EACH OTHER

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, The shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (Luke 2:15)

When the angels had left them - when they had come down from their moment of emotional excitement - they made a decision to go and worship. If we are to maintain a growing, joyful, relationship with God, we need one another’s encouragement. The church is not a meeting on a Sunday. The church is not a building. The church is not a website. The church is you and me. We need to be close enough to one another so as to say ‘let’s go’. We all need encouragement from time to time. Who could you encourage to worship at this time?
